Class Badges for Awesomeness at Distance Learning

We have been distance learning now for a couple of weeks and I wanted to say "WOW".  Students in Room 11 have amazed me with their ability to do the learning either independently or with family and whanau help. I am IMPRESSED how we have all adapted and been flexible.

As a class we have been doing so many FlipGrid responses that I got a teacher award as a Certified FlipGrid Educator!

As distance learners, the children have been reading books on Epic like crazy, so much that as a class we got a new milestone on our Readerpillar.

All About Pets

Today's distance learning is All About Pets. I can't wait to find out all about your pets!

SPOTLIGHT on Jot!

Today's distance learning was all about dinosaur skeletons vs human skeletons. Jot, a year 3 student, shared 5 amazing facts about the human skeleton on FlipGrid.

"Skeletons hold up your body. Skeletons protect your organs like hearts and lungs. The smallest bone is in your ear. Here's the interesting part, humans have 206 bones in their body, did you know that?  Your bones are alive!"

Distance Learning - Day 5 - Skeletons, what are they good for?

Welcome to Day 5 of Distance Learning in Room 11!

The topic today is Skeletons: specifically DINOSAUR vs HUMAN.

Elijah is a year 3 student in Room 11. He has been responding to activities on FlipGrid. My favourite response of his was his fitness routine. He did five sets of the staircase up and down, 5 push-ups and finished with 5 star jumps. Here is a snip of his FlipGrid for Get Moving.  Ka pai Elijah!

SPOTLIGHT on Danielle!

Part of our Robot responses today are on FlipGrid and these are not shareable unless you are in our class.

I wanted to SPOTLIGHT Danielle's FlipGrid response to the News article about Robots in Classrooms.  See how she typed the questions into her screen as she responded?  When Danielle replied to the questions, I could see which question she was answering. Well done Danielle!

SPOTLIGHT on Amber!

Each day I will spotlight a year 3 student's work on our class blog. Today the spotlight is on Amber! Here is her robot drawing where she opened a Google Drawing and inserted two photos and closely aligned them.  I just love the expression on its face! Well done Amber.

Distance Learning - Day 1 - STEAM

Welcome!

This is the first day of Distance Learning after the holidays. I hope you are all well.  Here is the first day of learning.

The slides have lots of things to learn about, lots of activities to make and create and if you are a Year 4, the expectation is to blog about the learning.  Year 3s need to save a copy of the slides in their Reading Folder.

I will be checking in with you throughout the school day.   Each day there will be a new slideshow, with new learning! Exciting!

Distance Learning starts tomorrow!

Room 11 starts distance learning tomorrow!

There is a Google Hangout link on the Class Site Home Page. Come by and have a quick look at the learning and then at 9.30am join the Hangout.

We will catch up, learn how to mute our microphones and use our thumbs like we already know how!

It will be awesome to see the students tomorrow.

Remember, any time we are all learning something new can feel chaotic at first. But I reckon we've got this.
